Phillies lock in J.T. Realmuto with three-year, $45M agreement

J.T. Realmuto is set to remain in Philadelphia after agreeing to a three-year, $45 million contract with the Phillies. The deal includes performance bonuses that could increase its total value.

The veteran catcher, who turns 35 this spring, brings continuity to a Phillies roster that has focused on retaining key contributors this offseason. His return follows other major roster decisions as Philadelphia stayed active in free agency but ultimately missed out on top infield target Bo Bichette.

Realmuto, a multi-time All-Star and Gold Glove winner, continues to be one of the most durable catchers in baseball, regularly handling an everyday workload. While his offensive production dipped last season, his overall impact and experience behind the plate remain valuable.

The Phillies have also added depth this offseason with additional signings as they look to stay competitive heading into the new year.
